SIF Business Luncheon for MPs and Media |

The Social Investment Fund hosted Members of the Parliamentary sub-committees on Finance and Poverty Reduction, the Media and its Board Members to a business luncheon and a field trip to showcase its achievements on the poverty reduction front. The MPs were overwhelmed by SIF’s achievements regarding the provision of 1,049 sub-projects mainly classroom blocks, teachers quarters, rural clinics, and boreholes since its inception in 1998 to directly benefit 1,145,477 people. The MPs commended SIF for their overall output and the cost-effective manner in which those projects were executed. Hon. Abuga Pele, MP for Chiana Paga constituency in the Upper East Region and also a member of the Finance committee of parliament in particular, added his voice to the call to challenge the District Assemblies to emulated the example of SIF and consequently reduce their cost in providing similar projects to their communities (ie construction of classroom blocks). SIF-CCF Collaboration Generates Employment in Kumasi |

The Cedi Finance Foundation (CFF) a Micro-Finance Institution (MFI) based in Kumasi has partner with SIF to provide micro-finance services to the productive poor. The CFF through its participation in the SIF’s micro-finance scheme since 2004 has provided micro-loans to the tune of ¢1.4M to 1,746 clients (74.6% are women) who are engaged in vegetable farming, commerce, agro-processing and service. Our Zonal Officer in Kumasi visited some of the beneficiaries and he has this to say “A woman beneficiary, Madam Adisa Mohamed, who was assisted by CFF under the programme to offer traditional catering service at Abrepo Junction in Kumasi under the business name AMALIA DIEHUO presently, employs 35 people.
